Jack White has released the “World’s Fastest Released Record”. According to White’s Third Man Records, the first batch of seven inch pressings of “Lazaretto” arrived in fans’ hands 3 hours, 55 minutes and 21 seconds after being recorded in front of a small crowd.
According to the Rolling Stone, “White took the stage at Third Man’s Blue Room just after 10 a.m. to perform a live version of the title track from his forthcoming album Lazaretto, which is out June 10, along with a cover of Elvis Presley’s “Power of My Love,” for the B-side”.
In addition to White’s world record release, he accomplished it on Record Store Day. Record Store Day is an internationally celebrated day. It takes place the third Saturday of April. The purpose of observance is to celebrate the culture of independently owned record stores. Therefore, it was particularly relevant that White was able to release his record the same day.
Earlier this month, White declared his plans for the world record. The record was previously held by Swiss polka trio Vollgas Kompanie, who released their album the day after recording it. Alongside this word record, White’s album “Lazaretto” has created a lot of buzz. The live performance and speculations on the meaning of the title are a few of the reasons why.
