Blight Privilege brings mind-boggling craft.
American psychedelic black metal artist Nachtmystium has been raising musical havoc since 2013 and earlier this month, Blake Judd released the album, Blight Privilege. As a whole, Nachtmystium’s latest offering is smashing because of each track brings a thrilling and blister metal vibe that contributes the endless musical insanity.
Kicking things off is “Survivor’s Remorse,” and what is really great about this ditty is hearing Judd’s vocal performance bring an extra kick of high-strung emotions. Each grumbling and shrieking give this composition a strong sense of fear and anger, while the instrumentation shakes the background with heavy and melodic metal noise.
“A Slow Decay” is a bit different, thanks to Judd playing his instruments on a harmonic level. While listening, the lead guitar blares killer riffs before the keyboard drum playing fills the air with a good mixture of surging and enchanting metal. “A Slow Decay” shows how much the artist enjoys creating sizzling music.
Another emotional ditty is “Blind Spot.” What shines on this number is hearing Judd wailing out the lyrics in pure rage. Right off the bat, the artist can be heard pouring his feelings out with his strong, high-pitched vocals. Another great part is the wicked, soul-shaking guitar solo, shaking things up with sharp notes.
Closing things out is the title track, “Blight Privilege,” and as a whole, everything is fabulous due to how each instrument creates an erratic music vibe that adds more madness and darkness while Judd yells out the lyrics with pure hatred. Also, the fast-paced drumming brings the sensation of wanting to head-bang along to “Blight Privilege.”
Judd put his heart and soul into Blight Privilege, and this album can satisfy anyone who needs to hear earth-shattering music. The artist’s love for metal music can be felt through each song.
