Composer and producer Hans Zimmer recruited an impressive list of contributors for the soundtrack for The Amazing Spider-Man 2.
According to Pitchfork, the soundtrack will include music from Pharrell, Johnny Marr, Dave Stewart of the Eurythmics and Mike Einziger of Incubus. Zimmer has worked with all four of these artists previously – Pharrell on Despicable Me, Marr on Inception, Stewart on Madagascar 3 and Einziger on The Lone Ranger. Those scores all vary greatly, but with collaborators like these, the superhero’s soundtrack will doubtlessly be good.
Marr, Stewart and Pharrell have all been rather busy already this year. Marr is currently on a U.S. tour and released some new material this past summer. He also performed at Coachella in April and reunited with former Smiths bandmate Andy Rourke in May when they performed “How Soon Is Now?” together. He even has plans for next year already – performing at Lollapalooza Chile in Santiago in late March.
Stewart performed with a number of guests at The Troubadour in April, named after his since-released album, Lucky Numbers. He also appeared as one of many collaborations on British singer/songwriter Carina Round’s latest album, Tigermending.
Pharrell was featured on one of the biggest singles of the year, Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky” from their latest album, Random Access Memories. He also contributed to the Despicable Me 2 soundtrack with the new track “Happy” and began his experience with superhero movie scores when he worked on the Man of Steel soundtrack.
