PJ Harvey is stopping by in Philly! Harvey, born Polly Jean Harvey, began her career in music in 1988 joining local band Automatic Dlamini as a vocalist, guitarist, and saxophonist. Harvey then started PJ Harvey, a trio, and they released 2 acclaimed studio albums, Dry (1992) and Rid of Me (1993). Harvey then went solo, having a successful music career that she is still working on today.
Throughout her career, PJ Harvey has fearlessly explored themes of love, lust, power, and societal decay, often drawing from personal experiences and political landscapes. Her albums, including Rid of Me (1993), To Bring You My Love (1995) and Stories from the City, Stories from the Sea (2000), have received critical acclaim and earned her numerous awards, including the Mercury Prize and several BRIT Award nominations.
Harvey’s music career is still going strong, releasing her tenth studio album I Inside the Old Year Dying as recently as July 7th, 2023. She will celebrate this new release on tour, starting in Europe in June and making her way to North America. Catch her in Philly on September 13th at The Met. Tickets can be purchased here.
