3/3/23 – Chicago, IL – The Vic Theatre
The rock band Blue October is coming to Chicago on March 3rd! While performing at The Vic Theatre, the band will be celebrating the first part of their upcoming album Spinning the Truth Around. According to cltampa.com, this is the first of three installments to the band’s next album. Part two is expected to come out in spring while a third part is in development.
According to jamproductions.com, Blue October is composed of Justin and Jeremy Furstenfeld, Ryan Delahoussaye, and Matt Noveskey. The original members Justin, Jeremy, and Ryan met in Houston. Since then they have made eleven studio albums. Justin Furstenfeld also starred in the action movie “Section 8”.
The first part of Spinning the Truth Around is all about love. Each song has meaningful lyrics that are accompanied by longing instrumentals of strings and pianos. The opening song and title track, “Spinning the Truth Around” describes staying in a relationship even though there’s something wrong with it. The couple tries to compromise despite just separating for the better. The theme of preserving love starts in this song and continues throughout part one.
“When Love Isn’t Good Enough” is a breathy and chill cocktail song that talks about self-love. As Furstenfeld speak sings about a partner that doesn’t love him like he wants. The strings and simple drum beat welcome an opera singer towards the end of the songs. This song really amplifies the heartbroken romantic persona that exists throughout the album.
The album closer is an uplighting anthem “Big Love”. The song is about Furstenfeld’s father that had passed during the pandemic. The song commemorates their father and sends him all the love they can. It closes part one perfectly, keeping the theme of preserving love while leaving excitement for part two.
Blue October gives everything you want in the current album. They give you romantic songs with catchy melodies and moving instrumentals. Be sure to see them in concert to feel their loving songs.
