The Residents have announced a show date, as a part of their Dog Stab Tour, in Austin Saturday, September 11 at The Parish. This show is 18+ with a $5 surcharge for minors. Tickers are $28 and the doors will be opened for the public at 8 pm.
One of the most prolific and mysterious experimental bands, The Residents, having begun recording in 1969, still remain to be identified, usually appearing in tuxedos, top hats, and eyeballs for heads. The Residents have been known for the deconstruction of popular music, inviting conceptual pieces composed around a theme, theory, or plot. With a focus on their avant-garde music and multimedia visual arts, and no identity to tie them to what they are doing, they have created a freedom of expression some people dream of.
Since their first release in 1974, Meet the Residents, the group has released over 60 albums, numerous music videos and short films, three CD-ROM projects, and ten DVDs. They have taken on seven major world tours and have scored multiple films. The Residents have won numerous awards for their multimedia projects, and they even founded their own record label, in response to no other label connecting their music, Ralph Records, in 1972.
