Legendary guitar amp technician Jim Marshall passes away at age 88.
Jim Marshall, founder of Marshall Amps, passed away at age 88 on April 5th. Marshall guitar amps are some of the most used guitar amps in the world known for the fuzzy hard rock sound that helped people from Jimi Hendrix to Kurt Cobain define their sound.
Marshall was suffering from cancer and passed away after several strokes. Needless to say it was a sad day in rock n’ roll.
In other coincidences, Kurt Cobain passed away 18 years ago and Layne Staley 10 years ago, both on this day. April 5th is not a good day for rock music.
