M.I.A. has dropped the new video for her single “Bad Girls.” It features, as you’d expect, some bad girls – in this case, scarf-clad women drift racing through the desert.
Middle-eastern men in aviators look on as the women of M.I.A.’s video tear it up in a couple of BMWs and the dustiest Alfa Romeo you’ve ever seen. The video is the British artist’s second collaboration with French director Romain Gavras. It’s pretty tame compared to their first go-round, the controversial video for “Born Free,” which included a shot of an American soldier shooting a young red-haired girl through the head.
We last saw M.I.A. at the Super Bowl, where she performed with Nicki Minaj and Madonna and gave the middle finger to the camera. “Bad Girls” is expected to appear on M.I.A.’s next album. The record, as-yet untitled, will be her fourth studio effort.
