Brooklyn-based super-group, CRICKETS, have debuted their first single “Drilled Two Holes,” on Jan. 9. The recently formed trio consists of JD Samson, from the bands Le Tigre and MEN, Roddy Bottum, from the bands Faith no more and Imperial Teen and Michael O’Neill from Princess and MEN.
The song starts with an upbeat high-hat. The indie-influenced vocals slowly fade in, as the beat remains in the fore front. A bass-like electronic synth makes its way in, as an electric guitar plays a catchy riff. The vocals make the way to the front.
As the song progresses, the vocals blend into the sound of the bass and beat, creating a catchy, dance-like beat. Towards the end of the song, the guitar takes center stage, as the repeating riff adds intensity to the song, ending off with a bang.
CRICKETS will be releasing their debut album in Spring 2020, via Muddguts Records. The title of the album is currently unknown. The band is set to play in Brooklyn, NY, at Baby’s All Right, on Jan. 12.
