American metal icon Metallica was one of the highest streaming bands on Spotify, as it racked in more than 1 billion streams in 2019, according to Kerrang.
While 1 billion streams is a lofty number, it was far from the number one streaming artist of 2019. Post Malone took the title for the most streams of 2019; his 6.5 billion streams were more than any other artist or band during the decade.
In addition to 1 billion streams, Metallica was the tenth highest monetary earner in terms of all artists in 2019, raking in $68.5 million last year. This sum was more than huge international sensations such as Justin Timberlake and Rihanna.
Metallica is set to appear at the Welcome To Rockville music festival in 2020 in Florida. Read more about the band’s involvement in the festival here.
