Mastodon will release their upcoming full-length, The Hunter, on September 27, an event that is preceeded this week by the release of a so-called “viral” video for the second single from the album, “Spectrelight.” Check out the video after the jump.
The track, which features Neurosis’ Scott Kelly, is the second to be promoted from the album via a video, and this time it’s somewhat psychedelic. Running just over three minutes, the video depicts swirling, kaleidoscopic visions of sprawling geometric patterns repeating ad infinitum.
But don’t reach for the boomers just yet–the sheer fury present in the track, which one YouTube user described as being “produced by Genghis Khan,” might bring about a full-on bad trip. This one’s best for (almost) sober viewing.
