Power Trip is noted for being unique among many in the thrash scene for originating from Dallas, and also due to their different musical blends in sound. While originating from the hardcore scene, the band began utilizing different elements of thrash metal into their music and stood out among many other bands of this genre.
The band’s frontman Riley Gale explained that their sound is unique due to the fact that the band does not care to cater to any one specific audience. Power Trip has recently toured with a variety of bands, with one of their most recent being a tour with High On Fire.
“When we asked them to tour with us, we didn’t stop to think what would people think?” Gale explained in an interview with the Chicago Tribune. “Maybe we’d freak out some of the metal heads, but people are loving them. Our intent was never to fit in someplace. Mainstream exposure has never been a goal with this band, it kind of just happened. And we’ve always tried to tour with bands we like because we think our fans should hear them.”
