Edgy singer-songwriter Morrissey will take the stage for his very first Broadway production at the Lunt-Fontanne Theater from May 2nd to the 11th. The former Smiths frontman will lead a residency at the theater throughout the week, and will dive deep into his career highs and lows like never before. Tickets for these intimate, exclusive performances will cost you a pretty penny, starting at $79 plus fees for the back rows in the upper mezzanine to $399 for premium orchestra spots. The show will start promptly at 8:00pm, with the venue opening its doors thirty minutes prior to showtime.
To say Morrissey is a household name in the world of British rock music would be an understatement. Leading The Smiths for five years from 1982-1987, Morrissey created music with the band that ultimately went on to become (arguably) some of the greatest, most classic rock music ever made. After The Smiths’ split in 1987, Morrissey went on to establish a successful solo career, marking his permanent foothold in the realm of rock music with his distinctive voice and sardonic tone. His latest endeavor at the Lunt-Fontanne Theater aims to look back at his wealth of career accomplishments, digging further into the stories behind his powerfully poignant lyrics.
These performances come around the release of Morrissey’s latest album, titled California Son. This album takes a retrospective approach, similar to that of his Broadway residency – California Son consists of covers spanning classic hits of the 1960s and 70s. If you’re a passionate fan of The Smiths, or just want to hear some fantastic rock music like never before, you certainly won’t want to miss this rare opportunity.
