Most, if not all showcases at SXSW are pretty much the same routine: go to a venue, check out bands, maybe have some drinks (if you are old enough of course) and then move on to the next one. But occasionaly there will be a showcase that will be more than just drinking and moving on, some showcases will help be put on to benefit someone in need. In this case Tito’s Vodka is having their showcase to benefit the Austin Human Society. On Saturday March 9th a the the Arlyn Studios, The Tito’s Party will have musical guests Octopus Project, SMiiLE, Shawn Pander, Magna Carda and DJ Girlfriend. Plus did I mention they will have adoptable dogs from the Austin Humane Society.
While you are (hopefully) playing with the dogs that will be at the Tito’s Party, enjoy the indietronica band The Octopus Project from Austin. Their sound is a blend of pop, experimental, and eletronic elements, for example “Music is Happiness,” feels as if you were in a techno spaceship. If Octopus Project isn’t your cup of tea then stick around for folk/country singer songwriter Shawn Pander. Pander isn’t your typical folk singer, where folk can be a little slower in melody and it’s not entirely country because he doesn’t carry the heavy southern drawl that some country artist have, if you get a chance listen to his track “Just to Be With You.” And if you’re looking for a little bounce, stick around for the sounds of Austin’s hip hop duo Magna Carda who’s been called “Austin’s answer to The Roots” by Mashable, speaking of give a listen to “The Root” and it feels as if you were in a cafe enjoying a nice cup of coffee enjoying the instrumentals from Magna Carda. The Tito’s Party will have a different sound for everyone to enjoy while you are keeping busy with your future furry buddy.
