Every year new record labels come to SXSW to put on their first showcase but for Burger Records and Burger City Rock N Roll this is not their first rodeo. They are returning to Austin for an 8th year as they take over Hotel Vegas once again on March 16th and 17th Saturday and Sunday for Burgermania 8. A popular event among SXSW attendeees Burgermania has music for everyone with multiple acts playing on different stages and every year Burger Records and Burger City bring more and more acts to Austin for SXSW and this year is no different. Burgermania 8 will be bringing over 100 bands playing free and offical shows over 2 days on 4 stages.
Some of the bands coming to Austin are Psychedelic Porn Crumpets, a psychedelic rock band from Perth, Australia whose sound is exactly how their described, psychedelic. Their new single Keen for Kick One? is an upbeat, wavy, electronic song that is perfect to add to your summer road trip playlist. Mom and the Mailman from Long Beach, California will bring his solo noise machine show to Burgermania. Signed to Burger Records, he just released his self-titled album, Mom and the Mailman, he’s thanking Burger Records “for letting me yell at strangers.” And from Nashville, Tennessee, Thelma and the Sleaze, a southern rock band who call themselves “Southern Sludge” also described as “Cowgirls from Hell,” asking everyone who consider themselves southern if “you don’t hear a lil’ Billy G, Memphis Minnie or hell-raising, coked-out Tanya Tucker in your ear, then YOU need to question how Southern YOU are.”
Those are just a few bands that will be gracing the stages at Burgermania 8 and as you can see there will be be plenty of different sounds to appeal to everyone that attends. Time slots for each band have not been announced. However last year free shows started at 2 pm and ending around 6 pm with official showcases kicking off at 7 pm and lasting until 2 am.
Burgermania 8 Saturday and Sunday March 16th and 17th at Hotel Vegas located at 1502 E. 6th St.
Burgermania is a 21 and over event with rsvps not being needed for daytime shows but their official SXSW showcases, credentials (badges and wristbands) will have priority and then doors will be open to the public with a $10 cover.
