San Francisco singer, songwriter and founding member of the Grateful Dead Bob Weir has announced a second leg to his current North American tour. This second leg will bring the legend to Philly on Friday, March 8th. Weir will be touring alongside bassist Don Was and drummer Jay Lane, a trio known as the Wolf Bros. While currently on the road, this is the group’s first full tour as a threesome.

Weir met fellow guitarist Jerry Garcia one day in a music shop back in 1963 when the pair decided to form a band that would eventually become the Grateful Dead. Fast forward fifty year later, and his importance to music as a whole cannot be understated. Along with the vast success of The Grateful Dead, Weir helped to make his mark in psychedelic rock as helping to pioneer the jam band genre.

Drummer Jay Lane has worked with Bobby before with the Bob Weir’s Rat Dog jazz band. That band became Weir’s primary focus after disbandment of the Grateful Dead in 1995. He also spent time as the drummer for Primus. Bassist Don Was may be more known for his career in production, but early reports are that he fits in with Weir seamlessly. This is their first tour together. Tickets for the show will go on sale Friday January 18th at 9:00 AM.
