Much like Andrew Bird (or even from a few years back Magnet), Owen Pallett uses a sequencing effect pedal to create his own sonic tapestry live on the fly. Pallett does all this with simply a violin, using it as both percussive notes to create his one-man orchestra. At an early slot at The Billions Corporation’s annual day party Fat, Crooked, Unwound at The Mohawk, the best commendation possible is that something this sedate and symphonic did not even for a moment seem dreary or boring. On a hot early afternoon, that’s not an easy feat.
