Fan favorite dream pop duo Beach House announced not one but two upcoming back-to-back concerts in New York City this August. Since their formation in 2004, Beach House, comprised of vocalist and keyboardist Victoria LeGrand and guitarist Alex Scally, has consistently worked hard both in the studio and on tour. Since their eponymous debut album released in 2006 , Beach House has released six full length studio albums as well as a collection of non-album tracks titled, B-Sides and Rarities. Their seventh studio album, the aptly titled 7, dropped this May featuring singles like “Black Car” and “Dark Spring.”
With over a decade under their belt, Beach House has explored different sounds with each album. On writing 7, they discuss how the benefit of getting older is the perspective gifted to them. In an interview with Noisey, LeGrand says, “There’s a lot more of that ‘f*** that’ feeling to this record, and the way we work together overall.” The band focuses on chasing their creativity and what they wish to explore musically. Beach House also spoke to the latest album’s political influences in a press release saying, “The discussions surrounding women’s issues were a constant source of inspiration and questioning. The energy, lyrics and moods of this record grew from ruminations on the roles, pressures and conditions that our society places on women, past and present.”
For both shows in New York City, Beach House will donate $1 per ticket to Planned Parenthood, in partnership with PLUS1. Papercuts will support Beach House at both United Palace and Kings Theatre.
