Devin Townsend has been hard at work in the studio and recently shared a few clips of new music that he has been working on. According to The PRP, Townsend has “a number of new projects he has in the works, including is next apparent release, Empath.” The upcoming album will be recorded in 5.1 surround sound, giving the album a more high-quality sound compared to his previous albums and “giving fans a live, in person experience splitting the overall composition into different channels, while opening up a whole new venture of music, and encounter for fans.”
Townsend also recently tweeted that he currently has 100 songs ready to be recorded and has been working with drummer Morgan Agren and is planning to collaborate with more.
While the Devin Townsend Project are currently on hiatus, it was recently announced that Townsend will release Ocean Machine- Live At The Ancient Rome Theatre Plovdiv on July 6th. In September 2017, the group recorded their performance of their second studio album Ocean Machine, which was originally named Biomech. Townsend also announced that a vinyl collection project titled ERAS, set to be released on June 8th. The vinyl collection will include 7 LP’s and will include all of the albums that were released between 2009 and 2011 including KI, Addicted, Deconstruction, and Ghost.
