Exactly 40 years ago, Bob Marley released his classic album titled Kaya. In celebration of this anniversary Stephen Marley, Bob Marley’s son and reggae artist himself, decided to move the location of his Kaya Festival from Long Beach, CA to San Bernardino, CA.
The festival will be held on April 28th and 29th at the NOS Events Center, located at 689 S E Street in San Bernardino, California 92408. According to the website, the event has been moved to its current location to “provide a better overall experience for the fans”.
The event has as central goal that of “educate, inspire and encourage positive public awareness of the vast medical and industrial potential of cannabis, which became legal in California as of January 1, 2018—and in numerous other states across the United States and the world at large”.
All of the Marley siblings took the stage last year for the first Kaya Festival edition in Miami alongside Sean Paul, Wyclef Jean, Pitbull and Ms. Lauryn Hill for a memorable show, which was named one of the top 10 Music Moments of 2017 by the Miami New Times. The Marleys also organized all-day long seminars with cannabis experts from around the world, as to better further their educational purposes.
This year, however, the lineup features once again Ms. Lauryn HIll, Action Bronson, Marcia Griffiths of the I-Threes, Inner Circle, who celebrate their 50th year in the reggae industry this year, the original Reggae Ambassadors Third World, Indubious, Roots Of Creation as well as Bob Marley’s contemporaries Toots & The Maytals.
Other names on the lineup include Cypress Hill, Soja and Marley’s grandchildren Skip Marley, Jo Mersa Marley, Daniel “Bambaataa” Marley, and Shacia Payne Marley.
Tickets are now available for purchase on Kaya Festival’s official website.
