According to Pitchfork, vocalist of The Cranberries and 90s alternative icon Dolores O’Riordan has died at age 46. The cause of death is not known at this time.

Her publicist released a statement indicating she was “in London for a short recording session” at the time of her death. The singer was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 2014. Over the course of there decades, the band sold over 40 million records worldwide.

The Irish band became darlings of the mid-90s alternative explosion with his like “Linger” and “Zombie.” Much of their unique sound was a result of O’Riordan’s powerful, instantly recognizable vocal delivery.

The Cranberries formed in 1989 and released their first album in 1993. The group broke up in 2003 before reuniting in 2009. They released a collections album in 2016, which featured three new songs plus 10 stripped back renditions of older tunes.
