MEAN Magazine (Music. Entertainment. Art. News) and MTV are teaming together to present a unique, exclusive series of music videos entitled Supervideo. The new project is unlike any typical music video, featuring film, television, and pop culture idols, with both an artistic and musical spin. The Supervideo series launches with NYC’s LCD Soundsystem featuring Anna Kendrick. Peep the video after the jump.
Supervideo: LCD feat. Kendrick
This line of supervideos are unique to the music industry in that they far beyond the traditional boundaries of music videos. These videos will feature multitude of different formats including short form narrative, montage, animation, abstract, and others.
The Supervideo tells the story of a mysterious woman, played by Academy Award nominated actress Anna Kendrick and her entourage who unleash the dark side of Los Angeles by hunting down villians and capturing their souls of ‘wicked men’. LCD Soundsystem’s song, “Pow Pow”, was used as inspiration for the narrative.
David Gale, a prominent figure in MTV’s Feature Film Division, is thrilled and satisfied with the launch of the Supervideo line: “This series taps into all the passions that MTV has celebrated over the years: movies, celebrities, cool filmmakers and, of course, music. We are particularly excited that MEAN has brought these elements together to create a signature new project launching with one of our favorite writer-directors, David Ayer, and two of this generation’s signature artists (Kendrick and LCD Soundsystem).”
And here are MEAN creator Kashy Khadeli’s thoughts: “This is a tremendous opportunity for creative minds, from all walks, to converge on a heralded art form – the music video. The lines in media have been blurred, and ultimately, the notion of compartmentalizing genres of music and film is a thing of the past. With Supervideo, you’ll see an invariably diverse collaboration of creatives that aim to offer something truly SUPER to the masses.”
