Phantogram is an electronica trip hop duo that formed in Greenwich, New York. Long-time friends since junior high, Josh Carter and Sarah Barthel formed the duo in 2007. They were originally known as Charlie Everywhere before changing their name to Phantogram in 2009. Carter is on vocals and guitar while Barthel is on keyboard and vocals. With influences like John Lennon, David Bowie, Otis Jackson Jr. and Bruce Haack, Phantogram’s music has a funky, groovy and melodic vibe to it.
The duo has released three albums and several EPs and singles. Three is their most recent record that was out in 2016. The band suffered from a lot of tragedy while making Three, they were dealing with the loss of Barthel’s sister and legends David Bowie and Prince. As you can imagine, a lot of emotions were put into the record.
Phantogram will be performing during the RTX gaming and internet culture event that will be going on July 7-9th.
Don’t miss Phantogram at Stubb’s on July 8th.
