Burning Up
Do you remember when you were young and wanted to set the world on fire? Against Me! does, and in an effort to remind you, they have set up White Crosses, their second album with Sire Records. Known for their edgy, fast paced beats, Against Me! have outdone themselves this time with what can only be described as pure melodic genius. With a cover that looks like it caught fire (semi-nude woman and all), it is only fair to assume that this album is going to be hot.
Their first single, “I Was A Teenage Anarchist,” has already hit the airwaves to positive reactions. This song will take us back to the teenage angst and anger we all felt in our little punk hearts during our teen years. For those who are still a teen, it is incredibly relatable and can be used to justify what their hormones are telling them to do and feel. With “Spanish Moss,” Against Me! give an amazing guitar solo aching for the eighties, giving way to unapologetic lyrics. The title track is very upbeat and almost danceable, allowing you to express the punk attitude inside your soul. This is definitely a song meant for those who enjoy trashing in the pit.
Regardless of who or what you are, Against Me! is for you. No one can sit through the intro of any song on White Crosses without blood storming through their veins and excitement pounding in their chest. Once more, Against Me! has given us something to cherish, inspire anarchy, and all together rage to.
