Canadian duo, Purity Ring, have been making waves in the electronic music scene since the debut of their 2012 critically acclaimed gem, Shrines. With their polished combination of trip-hop and electro-pop beats, the duo has been able to craft a distinct, yet catchy sound–beloved by fans worldwide. Along with instrumentalist Corin Roddick, is the wonderfully talented vocalist Megan James. James’ vocals complement Roddick’s elegant, synth fueled beats, and give their tracks a dreamy and elegant vibe.
As teenagers, James and Roddick met in their hometown of Edmonton. Shrines, would go on to be constructed through a long-distance, email based, partnership between the two musicians–as they were both living on opposite ends of the country at the time. Their second studio album, Another Eternity, was released in 2015, and would become the duo’s first record to feature face-to-face collaboration.
Purity Ring last graced Texas in November for a performance at the inaugural Sound on Sound Festival. You can see the duo perform a special DJ set at Empire Control Room & Garage next month on the 21st.
