Dallas thrash metal group Power Trip has released the first single, entitled “Firing Squad”, off its upcoming sophomore album Nightmare Logic. The single marks their first release since 2013 full-length Manifest Destination.
Power Trip’s assured debut LP assumed the thrash reigns of soon to depart legend Lemmy Kilmister. Their new single continues on this promising path. The track kicks off with a physical inhale, before crashing into pummeling riffage. Percussion dominates the mix, and the track chugs through with pure ferocity. The track’s lyrics deal with internal aggravation caused by an internal enemy, and its sludgy cadence reflects this sentiment.
Despite releasing only a single album to this point, Power Trip have toured for years, performing with groups including Anthrax, Lamb Of God, Cro-Mags, Negative Approach, Turnstile, Backtrack, Eyehategod, Bane, Off!, and countless others.
They have also played festivals across the U.S., Europe, and beyond. Currently, they are touring with Napalm Death, The Black Dahlia Murder, Pig Destroyer, and Abnormality. Power Trip will release a new slate of tour dates following Nightmare Logic’s release via Southern Lord.
Listen to “Firing Squad” below, and look forward to the release of Manifest Destination next year.
