DIIV are playing two shows in New York City next spring. The band hits Irving Plaza in Manhattan on April 16, and Warsaw in Brooklyn on April 17. Philadelphia experimental rock band Spirit of the Beehive will open both nights. The concerts support DIIV’s newly released album ZIRP!.
Brooklyn-based shoegaze band DIIV recruited producer A.G. Cook for the new record. Cook immersed himself in the band’s live performances by following them on tour. He wanted to use as little technology as possible, insisting on recording live drums and intricate guitar parts using various pedals. Thematically, the album explores political ideas from previous projects. Songs like “Kid” and “Dare Me” envision building a new world amidst societal collapse.
