Fujiya & Miyagi Share “Elasticated Waste” Lyric Video Ahead of ‘New Shiny Object’

Fujiya & Miyagi are gearing up for their newest album titled New Shiny Object, releasing on Friday, October 30th. The band will also be hosting a launch party in Walthamstow on November 8th and a full UK tour spanning from January-February 2027. New Shiny Object is available for pre-order on vinyl, CD and digital via Impossible Objects Of Desire. A new single release for the album is a track called “Elasticated Waste” and it’s very well produced.

The video opens with a visual of Connect 4 pieces falling in stop motion. Then the visuals switch to showing the lyrics in a collage design with changing imagery. The flow is really catchy and the bars touch on how conformity ultimately can constrain a person and make it difficult to see life for what it is. The stuttering beat carries the song while the bass keeps a steady groove. The instrumental is very experimental.

The album has earned itself some flattering reviews as well. The Arts Desk Disc of the Day called it “their boldest and densest in sound yet… These songs couldn’t be anyone else.” Stereogum stated “”Lowest Common Denominator” is a post-punk heater.” New Shiny Object has gone through many changes during it’s four year recording period. 20 years since the band’s breakthrough album, the band has reached a very realized state and isn’t afraid to say what they feel.
