THAO Shares Anthemic New Single “Take It Easy”

THAO has released her new single “Take it Easy,” the final single off of her upcoming album Show Me, which will be released this Friday, October 30 via Kill Rock Stars. This album is THAO’s first in six years. While “Take it Easy” is perhaps the most straight-ahead rock song on the record, the thorny subject matter is anything but linear. “It’s written in the voice of a person I used to be married to,” says Nguyen. “It’s me asking for forgiveness — from her and myself.” She has also released an official visualizer alongside the single, which shows a triptych of her and her band recording and producing the song in various settings.

Show Me was self-produced alongside Nate Brenner (also a co-writer) and Merrill Garbus of Tune-Yards and features special guests: Tune-Yards, The Linda Lindas, Neko Case and Adrian Quesada (Black Pumas). “Sick of the Times” (ft. Tune-Yards & The Linda Lindas) peaked at #35 on the Top 40 Billboard and Mediabase AAA charts for several weeks and latest single “Nguyen Nguyen Lose Lose” (ft. Adrian Quesada) debuted at #1 on the SubModern Single radio charts. THAO is going on an extensive North American tour starting in November 2026 and continuing through the beginning of 2027, with the tour concluding in April. She has teamed up with The Ally Coalition to donate a portion of ticket sales to non-profit organizations supporting LGBTQ youth in each city of her 2027 tour. She is also currently developing a musical and is working on her first book for renowned publisher Graywolf Press.

Liv Spark: My name is Liv Spark and I am a New Yorker and undergraduate student currently pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree at Occidental College in Los Angeles with a focus in Art History. My professional writing experience includes volunteering as a writer for a not-for-profit organization, co-writing a script for a short film, and working as an art and writing volunteer for healthcare workers. I also enjoy doing graphic design work and have volunteered to create graphics for the social media account of an animal shelter. Besides my love for writing, I greatly enjoy listening to music and spent my first semester of college co-hosting a weekly radio show for my school's student-run radio station. I am passionate about my love for art, film, literature, and all things pop culture, and I look forward to further exploring these subjects during my time in college while fulfilling my degree.
