My Chemical Romance Sued By Owner Of Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders Following Onstage Skit

The band’s dramatic “The Black Parade” anniversary shows have landed them in a legal dispute over one very unexpected part of the performance. My Chemical Romance has found itself in some unexpected legal drama, and honestly, this is not the kind of headline I had on my 2026 bingo card. The alternative rock band faces legal action from the company that owns the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders brand over costumes worn during its recent Hollywood Bowl performances.

According to Consequence, Pro Silver Star Ltd., the company behind the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, is seeking a temporary restraining order and injunction against the band. The dispute centers on dancers wearing outfits resembling the cheerleaders’ iconic blue-and-white uniforms during MCR’s The Black Parade anniversary shows. The performance took place on October 21, during the band’s rendition of “Teenagers.” What started as a cheerleader-inspired dance routine eventually became part of the show’s darker theatrical storyline, as the performers picked up prop rifles and took part in a staged battle. The scene ended with the dancers appearing to be shot, fitting into the fictional dictatorship and militarized world of the production. If you know My Chemical Romance, you know that subtlety has never exactly been the point.

According to the legal filing, Pro Silver Star claims the outfits were similar enough to the real Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders uniforms that concertgoers and people online mistakenly believed the performers were actual members of the squad. The company also alleges that it contacted the band and asked them to stop using the uniforms, but the request was not followed. Interestingly, the company says its issue is not with MCR’s music, creative direction, choreography, or even the use of armed performers in the storyline. Instead, it wants the band to stop using costumes that it believes infringe on its recognizable brand. Pro Silver Star is also seeking unspecified monetary damages.

As of October 24, My Chemical Romance had not publicly responded to the allegations, and the legal claims have not been decided by a court.

At the same time, the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders have a recognizable look that has been associated with their brand for decades, which is exactly why the company is challenging its use. Honestly, only My Chemical Romance could turn a performance of “Teenagers” into a headline involving the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders and a lawsuit. For now, the dispute remains unresolved, leaving fans waiting to see whether the band’s remaining anniversary shows will feature any changes to the controversial costumes.
