Beck performed “In The Night” alongside Sacha Baron Cohen last night on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Consequence reports that Cohen played cello during the Tonight Show performance. The song is from Ride Lonesome, Beck’s fifteenth studio album.

An orchestra opens the song followed by the acoustic guitar and bass leading us into the first verse. Beck’s soothing vocals are lifted by the strings supporting in the background. The composition is very reminiscent of Nick Drake. The vocal melodies while somber contain lyrics of loneliness. There’s a sense of longing as well as difficulty with moving forward through dark times.

Consequence also reported that Beck is currently on his North American tour in support of Ride Lonesome. In addition, Beck will also join U2 for their upcoming 2027 tour. Beck shared new video for his song “Ride Lonesome” from the album of the same name. Beck was accompanied by Sydney Symphony Orchestra as well as members of his live band.
