Miley Cyrus has released a music video for her song “Different Religion” featuring Model/Actriz off of her new album Bass Persuades. The album was released worldwide on September 18 as her first project with Atlantic Records and has since debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, marking Miley’s first number one in more than a decade. The music video for “Different Religion” was directed by Mert Alas and opens with a sleek white car speeding down an open desert road, with Miley appearing bathed in red light as she sings, “I’ve got my own god / He drives a fast car.” She’s later joined by several male models, including model Charlie Knepper, who throws knives at a wall behind Miley while blindfolded. As the models mouth the words sung by the Brooklyn-based band Model/Actriz, Miley continues her joy ride, with black and white clips interspersed of the singer playing the electric guitar. This sultry pop song shows Miley declaring her passion for her lover, a message that ties into this album’s exploration of love and relationships.
The album’s title track, “Bass Persuades,” quickly became the #1 Most Added Overall Song at US Radio and dominated global debuts at #1 on the US Spotify Top Songs chart and #2 globally. The album arrived alongside the official music video for the song “Let’s Get Married,” which Rolling Stone deemed “an instant classic.” The video was directed by Mert Alas and filmed at the iconic Chateau Marmont, and it features Miley’s fiancé, Maxx Morando. Miley will take the stage for a sold-out, two-night engagement at the legendary Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, on October 16 and 18. Ticket pre-sales generated unprecedented, record-breaking demand, with nearly 1.5 million fans joining the queue for the headline show.
