The Quebecois rock duo Angine De Poitrine have won the 2026 Polaris Music Prize, taking home the Canadian album of the year award for their math-punk LP Vol. II. According to Pitchfork, the duo also won the prize for the best Canadian song of the year for “Fabienk,” making them the first act to score both awards, which netted $30,000 and $10,000 Canadian, respectively. When discussing the duo’s recent achievements, Angine De Poitrine’s manager Sébastien Collin said the attention directed to “music this rock-driven and this complex is unexpected, yet entirely deserved.” Vol. II debuted at No. 44 on the Billboard 200 following its physical release on June 12, along with re-entering the Billboard Top Canadian Album Sales chart, where it reached a new peak of No. 11. They made their British television debut on Later… with Jools Holland on June 21, performing Vol. II cuts “Fabienk” and “Sarniezz” while guesting alongside Shania Twain, Arlo Parks and Sam Smith, along with making their U.S. television debut on September 15, appearing as the musical guests on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where they premiered a brand new song titled “Zugzegk.”
Angine De Poitrine is currently on tour, having recently performed at New York’s Le Poisson Rouge. They will tour across Europe and the UK before carrying out the North America leg of their tour, performing in Canada, Mexico, and the U.S. and concluding the year with their concert at the Paramount Theatre in Seattle on December 13.
