Yesterday, duo Sylvan Esso released Ow∞, their first album in four years as well as marking the very first album released under their own record label Psychic Hotline. With the album’s full release, a new single was released titled “Sledge.” A video also dropped for the single, which can be found on the duo’s YouTube channel.
The video opens with footage of trees passing by as logos, text and imagery flash on screen. The electronic beat kicks in as singer Amelia Meath rises into frame, beginning to sing as the trees go by and the sun shines down on her. She dances and poses in beat with the song, with the video stitching together various takes and angles to give a bit more of a dynamic sense to the track. The track has a dance-y and upbeat vibe to it, yet as the press release describes, the track has a bit more of a dramatic history. Sledge, written in the wake of Hurricane Helene and the Los Angeles fires, the song “channels apocalyptic anxiety into a fierce affirmation of destruction, control and surrender.”
The track is the seventh on the twelve track run of Ow∞, an album the duo “created, reimagined and revisited nearly every day since 2022” and released on September 11, 2026. Most of the tracks on the album are taken from Meath’s first vocal takes and features a variety of different performers on the various live instruments. The album is set to show Sylvan Esso as it can be with the duo’s full control, under their own record label, in their own studio and with their own collaborators.
