Elvis Costello shares an unreleased track, “I Turn Around,” for the upcoming box set celebrating the 49th anniversary of his 1977 debut album, My Aim Is True, which is set to release on October 2.
“I Turn Around” will be the first track on Disc 2 of the forthcoming box set. The song is a guitar and vocal performance that creates an intimate setting that captures the audience’s attention. Having the track be only guitar and vocals makes the audience pay attention to the lyrics, where Costello shows vulnerability through his words and shaky vocal delivery.
My Aim Is True was Elvis Costello’s first record and is getting remastered in 2026. “I Turn Around” was recorded solo with just Costello’s guitar and his voice in 1976 at the Hope & Anchor Studio. According to uDiscoverMusic, the future co-founder of Stiff Records, Dave Robinson, was present during the recording.
The box set will contain 104 songs across five discs, with more than half of the songs being unreleased material. “I Turn Around” will be featured on the second disc, titled “The Blueprint,” where Costello’s early demos and bedroom recordings will be heard, as well as early recordings from the Hope & Anchor sessions from 1975 and 1976.
