We know Phoebe Bridgers as the iconic singer-songwriter and member of boygenius, but now we can add actress to her resume. Bridgers made her acting debut in Lance Oppenheim’s Primetime, which premiered this past Friday at the Venice Film Festival and will be released in United States theaters on September 25th.
Primetime is based on Chris Hansen’s infamous To Catch a Predator. Bridgers plays a decoy named Del, and her presence was well welcomed and acclaimed. Robert Pattinson, the film’s lead actor, said of Bridgers’s role in the cast: “I didn’t even know Lance and Phoebe were friends before this happened, and he was like, ‘Why don’t we get Phoebe Bridgers for this?’ And I was like, ‘Why don’t we get the Queen?'”
The Hollywood Reporter also described her performance as “a remarkably assured acting debut.” According to the attendees, Bridgers also contributed new music for the movie’s end credits, as reported by Stereogum.
Speaking of new music from the singer-songwriter, she released her third solo studio album, Lost Weekend. Despite being hospitalized for appendicitis the week of her 32nd birthday and album release, the excitement and praise for the project remained, and she released a cinematic music video for one of the album’s tracks, “I Can’t Wait.”
