My Brightest Diamond Joins Forces With Blue Stahli For “Break The Cycle” From Morbid Metal

Something about pairing My Brightest Diamond with Blue Stahli feels right. One brings an art-pop sensibility and an unmistakably expressive voice; the other has built a sound around industrial electronics, heavy guitars and the kind of intensity that feels made for a futuristic battlefield. On “Break the Cycle,” the two meet somewhere in the middle, and the result is a dark, driving new track from Morbid Metal. Released via Ubisoft Music, “Break the Cycle” is composed by Blue Stahli and features My Brightest Diamond on lead vocals. The three-minute track arrives alongside the latest push for Morbid Metal, Ubisoft’s dystopian action rogue-lite.

That idea also connects directly to Morbid Metal. The game takes place in a distant dystopian future after humanity has brought about its own downfall. Inside a mysterious simulation, AI battle to determine who will become humanity’s successors. Players can switch between three characters: Flux, Ekku and Vekta during combat, combining their different abilities while gradually uncovering what the simulation is really designed to do. The single is also another example of how naturally Blue Stahli fits into the Morbid Metal universe. The electronic-rock project, led by Bret Autrey, previously contributed “Saru” to the game, a track built around shifting rhythms, heavy riffs, and the feeling of finding strength in the middle of chaos.

Released September 2 through Ubisoft Music, “Break the Cycle” is available now on streaming platforms and serves as the latest musical entry point into Morbid Metal as the game heads toward its next content update.
