Halloween shows! Hip-hop legends Cypress Hill celebrate the return of their longstanding Halloween tradition, Haunted Hill, with back to back shows at Irving Plaza on October 31st and November 1st. They will be joined by Immortal Technique and Lord Sko on the 31st and Mellow Man Ace featuring Krooked Treez and Planta Industrial on the 1st.
Founded in South Gate, California in 1988, Cypress Hill currently consists of rappers Senen “Sen Dog” Reyes and Louis “B-Real” Freese, DJ Lawrence “DJ Muggs” Muggerud, and drummer Eric “Bobo” Correa. They released their debut album, Cypress Hill, in 1991 which peaked at No. 31 on the Billboard Hot 200, was certified double platinum by the RIAA, and included the Hot Rap Tracks chart-topping single “How I Could Just Kill a Man.” The group’s sophomore album, 1993’s Black Sunday, skyrocketed them to even greater success, debuting at No. 1 on the Hot 200 and earning them their first Grammy nomination. Cypress Hill continued to climb upward and dominate the charts throughout the next 30 years across eight more studio albums that featured their innovative, genre-spanning sound.
Having infused their music with their native language for decades, Cypress Hill released their first ever fully Spanish album, Dios Bendiga, this past July through HYBE. Honoring their latin roots while continuing to push their iconic West Coast sound forward, the album includes features from Alemán, Trueno, Coyote, and Poe Leos in order to create what Rolling Stone en Español describes as “a piece that connects their history with the present, without losing the pulse that made them a global reference.” The album also contains a collaboration with original member Mellow Man Ace on the single “Campeones,” which along with the other tracks earned high praise from NPR, Billboard, Rolling Stone en Español, GQ México y Latinoamérica, Vice, COLORS, Remezcla, Okayplayer and HOLA!. Known for their eccentric and bluntly honest rap style, hazy production, and high-energy live shows, Cypress Hill continues to push the envelope as one of the defining groups in West Coast hip-hop.
Don’t miss Cypress Hill at Irving Plaza on October 31st and November 1st!
