Slow Pulp heads out on tour across North America this fall in support of their upcoming album, Melodie, arriving at Brooklyn Paramount on November 13th with special guests Ivy and Her New Knife.
Slow Pulp is a rock band based in Chicago consisting of drummer Teddy Mathews, bassist Alex Leeds, guitarist Henry Stoehr, and guitarist and lead singer Emily Massey. With a beautiful mix of shoegaze and indie rock, a penchant for devastating songs named after US states, extremely tasteful tambourine, and some unexpected surprises, all wrapped up in a bow by Massey’s tender vocals, their 2020 album, Moveys, was a sublime full-length debut that showcased the band’s strong textural and highly emotional songwriting. Signing with Anti Records in 2023, they turned up the distortion with their sophomore effort, Yard, on which they melded grunge-powered guitar rock with their incredibly introspective and dreamy style to create an even bigger sound.
On September 18th, Slow Pulp will release their third full-length album, Melodie, which, based on its singles, seems that it will feature and expand upon everything that made the last two albums great. They crank the noise for huge full-band hits on the otherwise bouncy “Better Man,” bring the heartbreak on piano ballad “Not for Nothing,” and sprinkle ethereal guitar effects on top of already soaring choruses on “Split.” With experience opening for artists like Death Cab for Cutie, the Pixies, and Lucy Dacus, along with two killer headlining tours, Slow Pulp have cultivated a captivating live show filled with incredibly tight technical precision, a perfect blend of high-energy rockers and tear-jerking ballads, and constant forward momentum.
