“Verjugarðar / Walls,” which follows previous singles “Healer” and “Drekafljóð / Dragon Maiden,” is Eivør’s newest single ahead of the release of her album Tungl on October 16. The track is described by the Faroese singer as “an epic and dark electronic rock ballad about two people who have lost what once bound them together behind walls of silence.” Juxtaposed with Eivør’s echoey vocals lamenting the fracturing of a once-strong relationship, the haunting soundscape, filled with ambient noise and eerie synths, sets the tone of the song. The song’s music video displays the album’s cover photo, which depicts Eivør in gothic style clothing, with wispy fabric flowing from her sleeves towards her feet and sigil-like symbols surrounding her body. The heavy shadows cast over her by the black-and-white nature of the photo serve to further emphasize its eerie, dreamlike quality, reflecting the atmosphere of the song itself.
Tungl, which is a Faroese word for ‘moon,’ is a ten-track album (with each song including both a Faroese and English title) that will show Eivør “reach[ing] further into elemental realms than ever before,” where she will explore a “contemporary need for navigation, self-belief and rejuvenation.” Eivør will celebrate the release of the album by presenting three special album release concerts on October 16, 17, and 23. The first two concerts will take place at Nordic House in Tórshavn, Faroe Islands. The third concert, which will feature special guest musicians, will take place at the iconic Harpa’s Eldborg Hall in Reykjavík, Iceland. Eivør will also be undertaking an extensive headline tour across North America later this year, with the Europe and UK leg of the tour carrying into 2027.
