The Dillinger Escape Plan at Saint Vitus on October 13th and 14th

99% Burnt! Mathcore trailblazers The Dillinger Escape Plan announce the final batch of Calculating Infinity shows for the 25th anniversary of their 1999 album across Europe and the U.S. this fall. They’ll be bringing the chaos to heavy music staple Saint Vitus for a two-night run on October 13th (with thought crimes and BORE) and 14th (with Johnny Booth and Godseyes.

Formed in 1997 in Morris Plains, New Jersey by guitarist Ben Weinman, vocalist Dimitri Minakakis, bassist Adam Doll, and drummer Chris Pennie, The Dillinger Escape Plan released their debut album, Calculating Infinity, in 1999, which sold over 100,000 copies, making them the highest selling artist on Relapse Records at the time. The album was heavily praised for its then pioneering blend of metal, jazz, prog, and punk and landed at No. 56 on Rolling Stone’s 100 Greatest Metal Albums of All Time list with tracks like “43% Burnt” serving as a blueprint for the emerging metalcore movement.

Moving into the 2000s, The Dillinger Escape Plan has since released five studio albums on which they incorporated new elements like alternative metal chorus hooks, dance-beats, ambient interludes, and more all while maintaining the high intensity and heavy aggression that made them instantly successful. After a series of lineup changes throughout their 20 year career, the band released their final album, Dissociation, in 2016, which covered the entire spectrum of their musical style from punishing mathcore to melancholy electronic rock. In support of the album, they embarked on a massive farewell tour across North America, Europe, and Australia, ending in NYC at Brooklyn Paramount at the end of 2017.

In 2023, they announced that they would be reuniting for the 25th anniversary of Calculating Infinity with a full circle show at Brooklyn Paramount in June of 2024 with original vocalist Dimitri Minakakis and guitarist Ben Weinman, as well as Liam Wilson on bass and Billy Rymer on drums. Following a longer run of headlining dates and festivals across the world throughout the next two years, The Dillinger Escape Plan will be putting on the last of their reunion shows this fall, concluding with Lamb of God’s Headbangers Boat cruise in end of October and start of November. This string of shows holds a special place in the hearts of band members and fans alike with Minakakis stating, “The Dillinger Escape Plan has always been more than just a band. We were a force of nature. This reunion show is our way of thanking the fans who have stood by us and the album we made in a small basement in NJ all those years ago.” Beloved for their crushing mix of odd time signatures, polyrhythms, wall-of-sound riffs, and strongly unconventional drum patterns, as well their equally intense legendary live shows, the AIM Outstanding Contribution to Music Award-winning band has paved the way for generations of metalcore artists to come.
