Phoebe Bridgers is back with another visual from her long-awaited new album Lost Weekend, and, unsurprisingly, she’s making us feel things. The singer-songwriter has released the music video for “I Can’t Wait,” the second visual from Lost Weekend, her first solo album since 2020’s Punisher. The video, directed by Chris Maggio and Pablo Rochat, takes a distinctly surreal, bug-eyed look at a day in Los Angeles.

The lyrics center on longing, attachment and the complicated feeling of wanting someone close even when you know things might not be that simple. There’s an almost conversational quality to the writing, with Bridgers turning a seemingly straightforward feeling into something much more complicated. It’s romantic, but in that very Phoebe Bridgers way where romance and anxiety basically refuse to exist separately.
Directed by Maggio and Rochat, the visual takes a “bug-eyed” view of Los Angeles, transforming an ordinary day in the city into something strange, exaggerated and cinematic. Rather than going for a traditional performance-based video, the visual leans into the song’s off-kilter feeling, making LA itself feel like part of the story. That surreal approach feels especially fitting for Bridgers, whose work has always balanced everyday details with imagery that can suddenly become bizarre or heartbreaking. The result is a video that feels less like a straightforward narrative and more like stepping into one of her thoughts for a few minutes.
