Two Shell Releases New Song “Closer To The Sound” Featuring Generative AI

Two Shell, the pranksterish London dance masked duo has admitted to the use AI to make so much music, and they confirmed it earlier this summer. In a Resident Advisor interview, one of the duo’s two masked, anonymous members said that they’ve used AI “for a couple of years now” and that they consider it to be “just another instrument, really.”

In a video clip that’s been circulating since June, the guys talked about the resistance to AI comparing it to the old days when musicians’ unions would object to the use of synthesizers. “There’s an irony with it where I think sometimes it feels like the emptiness of it almost helps you identify the soul in it.”

They crafted Infinite Now as a collection of songs that encourage listeners to let go and fall into the music in response to recognising that we’re living in dark times, mixing pop sounds with underground, electronic textures.
