Gather ‘round Weezer fans! The alternative-rock heroes will begin The Gathering tour this fall in support of their upcoming album, Weezer, arriving at Barclays Center on September 30th with special guests The Shins and Silversun Pickups.

Weezer was formed in 1992 in Los Angeles and for the majority of their three-decade career has consisted of vocalist and guitarist Rivers Cuomo, drummer Patrick Wilson, guitarist and keyboard player Brian Bell, and bassist Scott Shriner. In 1994, they released their self-titled debut album, Weezer (aka the Blue Album), which put the band on the map, eventually going multi-platinum and featuring the hit singles, “Undone – The Sweater Song,” and “Say it Ain’t So,” and “Buddy Holly” (which contains perhaps the most famous guitar break in modern rock music). They followed up in 1996 with Pinkerton which had an edgier sound that was less commercially successful but became a major cult-classic (despite some of the album’s more out of date lyrical content). Weezer found even more success through their subsequent albums including 2005’s Make Believe whose anthem “Beverly Hills” topped the US Modern Rock Tracks chart and reached No. 10 on the Billboard Hot 100. The band has also embraced generic experimentations as seen on the metal-inspired Van Weezer and the orchestrally-backed, baroque-pop OK Human (both from 2021). Since their massive debut they have released four more self-titled albums distinguished by the album cover color: 2001’s Green Album, 2008’s Red Album, 2016’s White Album, 2019’s all covers Teal Album, and 2019’s Black Album, all of which spawned even more hits including “Island in the Sun,” “Hash Pipe,” “Pork and Beans” (which won a Grammy for Best Short Form Music Video), and their cover of Toto’s “Africa” (which peaked at No. 51 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart).

After the online resurgence of their 2014 hit “Go Away” (featuring Best Coast singer, Bethany Cosentino) earlier this year, Weezer will return on August 21st with their 16th studio album and seventh self-titled album, this time sporting a shiny gold album cover, from which you can now hear the tracks “Shine Again” and “We Might as Well Be Strangers” (featuring Wednesday). In March, they announced The Gathering tour in support of the new album and held a series of promotional events across LA including THE TRIAL OF KNOWLEDGE (trivia night), THE SUNSET CEREMONY (rooftop acoustic performance with Cosentino), THE PINBALL GAUNTLET (pinball tournament with final bosses Cuomo and Shriner), and THE PICKLEBALL TRIALS (pickleball tournament including contestants Cuomo, Shriner, and Wilson). Famous for their pristinely polished pop hooks and anthemic choruses and relatably humorous and nerdy lyrics, Weezer has become one of the most famous and beloved alternative-rock bands of the last 30 years and, if the tracks released so far from the Gold Album are any indication, have many more incredible years to come.
