Post-hardcore band Basement embarks on a North American tour this fall for their new album, WIRED, featuring a wide-range of openers from Fiddlehead to Momma. The tour begins on October 7th in NYC at Brooklyn Paramount with support from Momma, Big Boy, and February.
Basement was formed in Ipswich, England in 2009 by lead vocalist Andrew Fisher, drummer James Fisher, lead guitarist Ronan Crix, rhythm guitarist Alex Henery, and bassist Duncan Stewart. Signing to legendary independent label, Run For Cover Records in 2010, they broke onto the scene with 2011’s I Wish I Could Stay Here, which begins with a dialogue from the classic film An Affair to Remember before launching into thirty minutes of non-stop, beautifully aggressive melodic hardcore, earning them a steady underground fanbase. The band upped the ante on 2012’s Colourmeinkindness, which debuted at 188 on the US Billboard 200 chart and features a relentless attack from front to back (save for the incredibly sweet “Comfort” and the breathtakingly spacious “Breathe”). Driven by the Fisher brothers’ commandingly emotive shout and thundering drums, the album showcases Basement’s enduring stamina and undying energy. The standout moment comes in the form of the second track, “Covet,” which unintentionally became an anthem for the 2010s emo revival with its brooding vocals, massive guitars, splashy drums, and one of the most crushing choruses in the genre. The song would later explode on social media, introducing a new genre of fans to Basement’s music before the band released a tenth-anniversary edition of their sophomore album in 2022.
Following a hiatus from 2012-2014, the band joined Fueled By Ramen (Paramore, Fall Out Boy, Jimmy Eat World, etc.) to release 2017’s Promise Everything and 2018’s Beside Myself, which took a more polished, alternative-rock approach while still embracing everything that makes Basement so great. In 2026, they reunited with Run For Cover for their latest album, WIRED. The album sees Basement at their finest, blending the outright aggression and straight ahead attack of their first two albums with the production savvy honed during their time with Fueled By Ramen. The album features some of Basement’s most bold and grand moments yet, the bouncy, mosh-inducing opener “Time Waster,” the cheeky, perfectly-executed slowdown on “Deadweight,” and the transcendent, heavy-hitting choruses on “Embrace,” as well as some of the band’s sweetest, most beautiful moments on songs like “Head Alight” and “Longshot.” Known for their incredible dynamic range tied together by a deep emotional core and their high-energy, mosh-filled shows, Basement rightfully earns their place among the seminal punk and emo bands of the 21st century.
