paris jackson at Night Club 101 on September 25th

Amidst opening for Taylor Momsen’s The Pretty Reckless this summer, paris jackson heads out on her headlining zombies tour across North America, playing at Night Club 101 in NYC on September 25th.

A model, actor, and musician, paris jackson was raised by her father, pop icon Michael Jackson, in Beverly Hills, California until his sudden death in 2009. She began her music career in 2018, forming a contemporary folk duo with Glenn Gabriel called The Soundflowers, who released their debut self-titled EP in 2020. The duo also won the Best Music award at the Top Indie Film Awards in 2021 for their song “Notes on a Ghost” (from their debut EP) which appeared in the 2020 indie film, The Passenger. Jackson launched her solo music career with her 2020 debut album, wilted. Produced in part by the singer and guitarist of legendary indie rock band Manchester Orchestra, Andy Hull and Robert McDowell, the album features an introspective folk sound backed by hauntingly beautiful instrumentals by Hull and McDowell themselves (Hull also contributes background vocals) which support Jackson’s tender vocals and introspective lyrics. She followed up with the simmering slow-burn, “adagio” featuring Manchester Orchestra and the soothing the lost ep, on which folk band Caamp joins for the opening song, “lost.”

She showcased her range with a series of singles in 2022 and 2023 (“lighthouse,” “just you,” “bandaid,” and “hit your knees) which feature a more aggressive alternative rock sound inspired by ‘90s bands like Weezer and Marvelous 3. This year she continued with the pining “zombies in love” and the driving “teenage drama.” She has also teased the release of her latest single, “stitched (on & on),” saying it will arrive “sooner than you think.” Jackson explained her new direction by saying “I’m still making folk, it’s the production that’s different. What’s mainly inspired that is just my growth with my voice and my ability. I project more, I scream and yell. I wasn’t always able to do that.” No matter the genre, paris jackson has proven throughout her nearly decade long career that she is a strong and independent artist in her own right and her music succeeds in bringing her out of the shadow of her father’s legacy.
