The Format at Radio City Music Hall on October 9th

The Format announces a one night only NYC show! The indie pop-band is set to perform at Radio City Music Hall on October 9th. They will be joined by The Get Up Kids and special guest Phantom Planet, who will be playing an exclusive acoustic set.

The Format was formed in 2002 in Peoria, Arizona by multi-instrumentalist Sam Means and Nate Ruess, the vocalist from the iconic pop rock band Fun.. The band is known for their eclectic mix of indie, alternative, punk and folk music, with elements of 1960s and 1970s pop. They released two albums, Interventions and Lullabies and Dog Problems, before announcing that they would be going on indefinite hiatus in 2008. To the delight of their fans, however, The Format made a surprise return in 2025 with a sold-out comeback show in their hometown. Soon after, they released their first album in twenty years – Boycott Heaven, which they followed up with a sold out North American tour. The album also features producer Brendan O’Brien on bass alongside drummer Matt Chamberlain (David Bowie, Bob Dylan, Fiona Apple) and channels the alt-rock, grunge, and power-pop influences that inspired Ruess and Means to form The Format.

The band also has had a continued dedication to public service, holding a series of local Saturdays in the Park events during their Boycott Heaven tour in which they gave fans the opportunity to meet and get involved with local organizations, such as voter registration groups, union workers’ rights groups, animal shelters, and pro-peace organizations. They also released a charity single “The Bar is Set So Low, ” exclusively via Bandcamp and 100% of the proceeds go to Immigrant Rapid Response, Immigrant Defense Network, Advocates For Immigrants Rights and Latino Memphis. $1 from every NYC show (and the rest of the upcoming tour stops) will go towards benefiting organizations that fight food insecurity and fund local animal shelters.

Don’t miss The Format perform the entirety of Dog Problems front to back for the beloved album’s 20 year anniversary along with other new and old favorites on October 9th at Radio City Music Hall Tickets are available at Ticketmaster.com.
