Flea Performs 9 Songs Live for the First Time and Covers Frank Ocean & Funkadelic at Recent Concert

Red Hot Chili Peppers mainstay Flea began his tour to promote his first solo album Honora, released in March at Chicago’s Thalia Hall. It seemed like fun, funky affair, he played bass, trumpet and gleefully swung his arms and legs. He did not celebrate the 20th anniversary of Stadium Arcadium.

With no openers reported, Flea and the Honora Band immediately launched into tunes from Honora, playing the entire new album. The night kicked off with the live debut of “Traffic Lights,” a single from Honora, with a large portion of the setlist featuring the first time Flea and his band performed Honora‘s songs live. Songs like “The Plea,” “Frailed,” and “Morning Cry” were also performed for the public for the first time.

The tracklist also includes portions titled “Good Night Darius” and “Shred of Hope,” two songs with not much information available. Outside of “Willow Weep For Me,” Flea performed every song from Honora, including his covers of Frank Ocean’s “Thinkin’ Bout You” and Funkadelic’s “Maggot Brain.”

Night one of the May tour is in the books, but Flea will travel to Canada, stopping in Toronto and Montréal, before returning to the States for shows in New York City, Washington, D.C., and Los Angeles. The tour will wrap up with a string of European shows, including performances in Berlin, Amsterdam, and Antwerp. You can find tickets for these shows below, along with the full setlist and clips from the show below.
