Photo Review: Steve Earle at Gramercy Theatre

Nathan Bess opened for Steve Earle, playing an acoustic set at Gramercy Theater on Friday, Feb 27, 2026, in New York City. With flowing fingers gliding with his voice, Bess showed his soul during his set. With a little (lot) of humor from both artists, Bess set the tone. At one point, he expressed that he just wanted to write a song about murder. The comedy was a perfect mix as he showed us his depressing music alongside a cheerful personality.

“There he is!” I heard someone say as Steve Earle walked on stage at the Gramercy Theater. Watching everyone in the crowd enjoy his music and his stories with so much emotion was arguably the best part of the show. Earle does not need much as he showed to us at the packed theater in New York. With a harmonica around his neck and a lifetime of music to play, he did not disappoint.
