A classic take on a newer sound.

Aerosmith and Yungblud released their EP titled One More Time. This EP is made up of six tracks, all adding up to create a coherent work that combines both Aerosmith’s and Yungblud’s sounds relatively well. This EP consists of four original tracks co-written by Aerosmith and Yungblud. It is also Aerosmith’s first new music release in over 12 years. The EP also features a new mix of Aerosmith’s “Back In The Saddle.”

The EP opens with the track “My Only Angel.” This one starts off with stacked chords and reverb in the vocals. The instruments come in with a simple classic rock riff. There is very clean mixing in this track and the EP as a whole. It also has an easy-to-follow melody along with an arpeggiating guitar solo, but nothing new and interesting is happening on this track, as it is rather straightforward. “Problems” starts off like a live recording because it features the implementation of an audience. The vocals are a bit too overtuned, and overall, the track sounds very similar to “My Only Angel.” There is a breakdown following the first chorus that is head band worthy and it ends off with the instrumentation finally letting loose. “Wild Woman” uses the same stacked and reverbed vocals as “My Only Angel.” It adds an acoustic guitar which gives the track a vaguely country rock feel. The beginning is stripped back, but more instruments are added on in the chorus which help to fully flesh out the sound of the track. “A Thousand Days” also has an acoustic intro, but keeps more of a slow rock feel. The vocals are raw and use less autotune. The lyrics are pleading and earnest, which goes with the subtle orchestrations on the track.” Next is the 2025 mix of “Back In The Saddle,” a classic Aerosmith track. Yungblud’s incorporation to this track is a nice addition to a classic. Despite being a new mix of an old song, it certainly is the standout track on this release. The EP closes with the Lainey Wilson version of “Wild Woman,” and her verse adds a country flair to the track.

Overall, this release is clean and concise. It is a nice mix of both Yungblud and Aerosmith and through the cohesive sound of the tracks, listeners can hear just how well all of the musicians work with each other. With that being said, there really isn’t anything new or exciting happening in the tracks. The real novelty here is the collaboration between a classic group and a newer artist in order to keep classic rock relevant and interesting.

Currently, I help run an organization on campus called the Music Forum. This is an organization for musicians to collaborate with each other. During my time with the Music Forum, I have worked with other members to write album reviews as well as create a space for musicians to work together. I have been an enjoyer of music for as long as I can remember. In previous years, I have picked up bass, guitar, piano, flute, and singing. I have always said that my dream job would be to listen to music and talk about it. I am ecstatic to get to write for mxdwn and to continue speaking on my love for music.
